BLANKETS
High quality alpaca throws for use as
bedspreads, throws or blankets made in Peru by the Hualpa family and purchased
directly from them. Once you touch them they are impossible to resist. Ideal as
a soft furnishing to brighten up a room or to keep yourself cosy on a cold
winter night.
I have been sourcing these wonderful
blankets from a local weaver family in Peru since 2000 when I first started
living and working there and giving them away as present to friends. The
response was always so positive that eventually I decided to try and custom
design some myself and import some for sale. The design is based on a motif
used by the ancient Chachapoyas people in much of their architecture and
material culture, the ancestral inhabitants of our land at Techo Verde. It
probably represents the eye of the jaguar, an animal of huge cultural
importance for the people living on the foothills of the Andes as they descend
into the Amazon.
The 70% alpaca, 30% wool blanket is currently available in the following six colourways, pictured below.
